When I log in, a window opens on my desktop with "Microsoft family features" in the heading, telling me to ask for permission to use "Windows Shell Experience". My account is the adult account in my family and there should not be any Microsoft family restrictions on my account. Why am I getting this window?

Windows Server Windows desktop and shell experience

Same issue here too on both my kids pc's.

And am getting this message on a pc even when parent signs in and having removed the kids accounts from the pc. i.e. removing the kids accounts does not stop this message appearing when an adult logs in.

I had the same issue, started a few days ago. I contacted MS support via chat (well, that's why they are for, right?) and finally I got into a technician who solved it via remote assistance.

The solution was to switch back to local account from MS account (Settings>Accounts>Sign in with a local account instead). Then logoff-logon again, and then connected back to MS account. (Same steps but "sign in with MS account" this time.)

He said it was something with MS account not synced properly to local computer.

    Hope this helps.
