Add a file rule

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To add a file rule

Open Remote Storage.
In the console tree, double-click Remote Storage, and then click Managed Volumes.
In the details pane, right-click the applicable volume, and then click Include/Exclude Rules.
On the Include/Exclude Rules tab, click Add.
In Path, type the folder path to the file (do not include the drive letter).
In File type, type the wildcard character and file extension (for example: *.jpg).
To exclude matching files when the rule is applied, click Exclude matching files.

Or, to include matching files when the rule is applied, click Include matching files.
To apply the rule to any matching files stored in subordinate folders, select the Apply rule to subfolders check box.

Notes

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators group on the local computer, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority. If the computer is joined to a domain, members of the Domain Admins group might be able to perform this procedure. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure.
To open Remote Storage, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Remote Storage.
