User Directory Synchronization Settings Dialog Box

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

This dialog box defines a synchronization schedule for the user directory and specifies Microsoft® SQL Server™, Microsoft® Windows® Active Directory, or a Microsoft® Exchange Server as the source for your user information.

  • Synchronize without Directory Services
Select this to populate the User Directory with the names of users who have SQL Server logins on your database. You can add extended information to the user records manually.

  • Synchronize with Exchange 2000 or Active Directory
Select this if you want to get the user information from the Active Directory user list or from an Exchange 2000 server.

  • Synchronize with Exchange 5.5
Select this if you want to get the user information from an Exchange 5.5 Server. If you use this option, you must enter the name of an Exchange Server to synchronize the user directory.

  • Exchange Server
Type the name of the Exchange Server from which you want to synchronize your user information.

Note   You must know the name of the Exchange Server. You cannot browse to find it.

  • Options
Opens the SQL Server UserList Properties dialog box where you can define the synchronization schedule for your user directory. Use the Schedules tab in the UserList Properties dialog box to define your schedule. For details, see the topics about automating administrative tasks and the Job object in the SQL Server Books Online.
