Why Can't My Android Phone Connect to My Win 10 Pro Desktop?

Using the Microsoft Remote Desktop Android app.

Installed Remote Desktop Assistant on PC.

I've made sure the PC can allow for remote desktop sessions.

Used connection info provided by Desktop Assistant for the Android app.

Try connecting on cell network: get error 0x104. Something like "can't find this pc".

Switch to local Wi-Fi network that desktop is connected to. Now it finds the machine, but it doesn't take my login info. "The user name or password did not work."

Try every combination I can think of. Email, computername\username, user name only. NOTHING WORKS.

What am I missing?

Windows Server Remote and virtual desktops Session connectivity

    • Were you able to use the app properly before?
    • Have you checked if there's a new update for the app?
    • Have you tried updating your computer's wireless adapter driver? If not, kindly follow the steps in this article: Update drivers in Windows 10.
    • Which version of Windows 10 are you using?

    1. I've never in my entire life had any success with MRD, that includes the android app.
    2. The app is up to date.
    3. The computer is wired, not wireless, and the driver is up to date. I can't get my phone to connect to either my home PC, or my work PC.
    4. Windows 10 Pro latest update.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Microsoft Remote Desktop app? If not, kindly try to uninstall and reinstall it first. If it still doesn't resolve your concern, it is most likely that your phone is experiencing compatibility issues with the app. If that's the case, we recommend that you contact the original equipment manufacturer of your phone to verify if they support the Microsoft Remote Desktop app.

Let us know if you need further assistance with your concern.

Sure do. I'm getting the same errors. At first the Username and Password, but then after it finally accepted that, it says it can't find my PC and gives error 0x104.

I've also never once had this application work, even when I use my Windows 10 Mobile phone, a Lumia 640, and another Windows computer. Same on my Galaxy S8, the device I actually want to use this on. I am trying to remotely connect to my Surface Pro 4. I really see no reason these modern devices aren't able to utilize Microsoft's very own Remote Desktop, when GoToAssist and Remote Mouse apps have no trouble.

No one I've ever met gets this thing to work. Can we get actual help? It's clearly not a simple uninstall reinstall, as this error happens across multiple devices on different platforms.
