Purchases Decomposition (Power BI Report)

APPLIES TO: Generally available in Business Central 2024 release wave 2 (version 25.1).

The Purchases Decomposition report provides a comprehensive breakdown of your total purchase amount by item categories, vendors, fiscal periods, and document types. This report helps you gain insights into purchasing costs and analyze spending patterns, so you make data-driven decisions to optimize purchasing processes.

Use the report

The helps purchasing teams break down costs and optimize purchasing activities.

Purchasing managers can use the report to analyze purchasing processes and optimize inventory management. You can break down purchases by supplier, category, and other relevant dimensions. You can analyze the purchase amounts over time to identify trends and improve your supply chain, leading to cost savings.

Purchasers can use this report to analyze the purchasing activities for a specific category of item. You can use the visual to:

  • Analyze the cost breakdown of vendors within the category and identify opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Drill down into the data and identify which suppliers provide the most cost-effective items.
  • Analyze the volume of purchases over time.
