Dimension Wizard F1 Help (SSAS)
Use the Dimension Wizard in Business Intelligence Development Studio to create a database dimension in a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services (SSAS) project. To open the Dimension Wizard, in Solution Explorer, right-click the Dimensions folder for an Analysis Services project, and then click New Dimension.
The Dimension Wizard guides you through some or all of the following steps, depending on the selections you make within the wizard:
- Choose the method with which to build the dimension.
- Identify the data source view for the dimension.
- Choose the type of the dimension.
- Define the time periods of a time dimension.
- Select the calendars for a time dimension.
- Identify the main table and, if applicable, the related tables used for the dimension.
- Select the dimension attributes for the dimension.
- Select the key attribute and attribute type for the dimension.
- Define the account attributes for an account dimension.
- Define a parent-child relationship for the dimension.
- Review the generated hierarchies for the dimension.
- Name and save the dimension.
After you create a database dimension, you can use Dimension Designer to edit its properties. For more information about Dimension Designer, see Dimension Designer (SSAS).
