Select the Dimension Type (Dimension Wizard)

Use the Select the Dimension Type page to create a standard dimension, time dimension, or server time dimension.

Options

Standard dimension
Create a standard dimension that uses columns from the dimension table to define the attributes, properties, and hierarchies of the dimension.

Time dimension
Create a time dimension that uses the time stamp, a time-stamp range, or one or more columns in a separate time dimension table to create an entire hierarchy.

If this option is selected, you must also select a table from the specified data source view. The selected table is the table on which the wizard will base the time dimension.

Note

You can only select a table on which to base the time dimension if you have selected Time dimension on this page and Build the dimension using a data source on the Select Build Method page.

Server time dimension
Create a time dimension that uses system-generated attributes instead of attributes based on the columns of a time dimension table.
