Source Code Control: System Developers (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)
1/6/2010
This topic provides information about best practices for source code control that system developers can use to assist in the creation of Windows Embedded CE 6.0 run-time images for download to a target device. You are a system developer if your goal includes the building of run-time images (Nk.bin) and then downloading them to target devices as part of your typical development process.
Best Practices for System Developers
When installing Platform Builder on a development workstation, make sure that you select a Tools Only installation, and that you have reviewed the content in OS Tree Placement in a Source Code Control System. Then, to obtain an OS tree, synchronize with the OS tree that has been checked into your team's source code control database. This ensures that the development workstation has a consistent baseline to use for development.
When configuring the global settings for Platform Builder on the development workstation, make sure that the WINCEROOT on the development workstation is set to the directory path for the OS tree that you have obtained by synchronizing with your team's source code control database. For information about setting the WINCEROOT environment variable, see Options Dialog Box: OS Design and Build - 6.0.
After you have completed setting this up, you are now ready to begin developing. For information, see Source Code Control: Getting Started.
