Timer Hardware Considerations (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

You must provide a timer to generate the operating system tick, which the operating system uses for timing and thread rescheduling events. The timer for the operating system tick timer must be able to generate interrupts at programmable intervals. One millisecond is the smallest supported interrupt interval.
