Copilot in Power Automate for desktop (in preview) now allows you to create desktop flows using the AI recorder, sharing your screen and describing the task you want to automate.
Both features are only available in US environments for users with a work or school account.
Enhancements & Improvements
The UI elements collections are now generally available, introducing the below enhancements:
- The collection publishing experience has been improved, when the same name of another existing collection is used.
- When a collection is included in a solution, and that collection is updated, the solution is now updated automatically with the new binaries.
- A proper error message with the required remediation steps is now thrown, when trying to update a collection that has been modified at the same time in another flow.
- When you add a new UI element in the flow while the Collections tab is in focus, the Flow repository tab now automatically comes in focus to display the new element.
- In the control picker element of UI and web automation actions, the proper full path is now shown when a collection UI element has been selected, in the format: ‘DesktopName’ > ‘CollectionName’ > ‘ScreenName’ > ‘UIElementName’. The same applies to the tooltip after hovering over the action’s UI element in its workspace summary.
- The message in the popup dialog to select the target desktop when importing a collection in a flow has now been improved and is more detailed.
- An issue occurring per flow designer start, where selecting an element from an imported collection in a UI or web automation action ended up selecting the parent element instead, has now been resolved.
- Sorting the Collections tab now doesn’t affect the name of the desktop including the collection. Existing collections need to be re-imported and saved in the flow in this version for the fix to take place.
Table and list actions (1-indexed) are now enabled in Power Fx flows.
Execution logs for designer runs can now be saved locally on the user’s machine, through the use of a registry setting.
In the actions ‘Invoke web service’ and ‘Invoke SOAP web service’, a new parameter is now available, to avoid trimming the whitespaces at the end of the web service response’s request body, if needed.
A local auto-retry mechanism has been implemented for Work Queue Items when they encounter an IT exception, available as a new property to be configured in the action Process work queue items.
In the Troubleshooter tool, when verbose logging is enabled, a tooltip is now available for the ‘Export logs’ button that becomes disabled.
More logs have now been added under the error details for certificate related errors in web actions, including the retrieved registry values, for further troubleshooting.
Handling virtual names for Java UI elements has now been improved.
Repaired Functionality
The following list details issues in Power Automate for desktop that are now resolved:
Produced variables that should be sensitive by default upon saving the respective action now have the expected behavior.
The ‘Run desktop flow’ action now correctly handles the invoked flow’s optional parameters by ignoring empty inputs. Existing actions with this issue from older versions need to be saved again in this version.
Users will not get an error message for any kind of exception that may be thrown, while renaming a flow.
An issue with the context menu not appearing properly, when selecting, unselecting and right-clicking on a flow in the console, has now been resolved.
An exception that sometimes occurred in the console startup process has now been addressed, ensuring that the console opens correctly.
A more intuitive error is now thrown, while trying to save a flow with desktop flow binaries that exceed the allowed size limit.
Produced variables that should be disabled by default upon selecting specific options in certain action parameters now have the expected behavior.
An exception occurring while trying to add an asset, after switching tabs in the Assets library, has now been resolved.
Filtering the variables by typing a string in the search bar of the variables pane now works as expected, after a variable is renamed.
A fix has been implemented that prevents duplicate screens in UI elements from blocking the flow opening.
An issue on handling variable usages in Power Fx flows has now been resolved.
Comments can now normally be included between the actions ‘Create text with GPT’ and ‘Display message’, without throwing the corresponding error.
Dynamic arguments required for cloud connectors are now correctly gathered, ensuring that all necessary parameters are included in API calls.
An issue related to editing the value of untyped Datatable variables in Power Fx flows has now been fixed.
SAP tree items are now captured properly, when using the option ‘Capture based on text’.
During recording, using the Reset button after the Internet Explorer browser has been launched no longer closes the said browser.
The cards under the category ‘Begin your automation journey’, on the home page of the console, are now more accessible, when the Copilot pane is expanded.
An issue occurring in Microsoft Store version installations, when running a flow in Picture-in-Picture mode, has now been fixed.
