To pause the Task Scheduler service

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators or Server Operators group, or have been delegated the appropriate authority, on the local computer. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure. For more information, see Default local groups, Default groups, and Using Run as.
To open Task Scheduler, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Scheduled Tasks.
The Pause Task Scheduler command is useful if you do not want scheduled tasks to run at the same time you are installing software or running another program (such as a game).
To resume the schedules for all tasks, on the Advanced menu, click Continue Task Scheduler. Once the service is restarted, tasks will run at their previously scheduled times.
