To stop a scheduled task that is running

To perform this procedure, you must be a member of the Administrators, Backup Operators, or Server Operators group, or have been delegated the appropriate authority, on the local computer. As a security best practice, consider using Run as to perform this procedure. For more information, see Default local groups, Default groups, and Using Run as.
To open Task Scheduler, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Scheduled Tasks.
If you stop a scheduled task that is currently running, you might experience a delay (up to 3 minutes) before the task shuts down.
To restart a stopped task, right-click the task, and then click Run.

Note

Before stopping a scheduled task that is running, make sure you check for other scheduled tasks that are dependent on the task. If you stop a scheduled task that is running without checking what other tasks are dependent on it, other tasks might not run or run incorrectly.
