Configure plaintext password authentication for Macintosh remote access

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To configure plaintext password authentication for Macintosh remote access

  1. Open MMC.

  2. In the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.

  3. Click Add, click Group Policy Object Editor, and then click Add.

  4. In the Select Group Policy Object wizard, click Finish, and then click Close.

  5. In the Add/Remove Snap-in dialog box, click OK.

  6. In the Console Root, double-click Local Computer Policy, and then double-click Computer Configuration.

  7. Double-click Windows Settings, and then double-click Security Settings.

  8. Double-click Account Policies, and then click Password Policy.

  9. Right-click Store password using reversible encryption for all users in the domain, and then click Properties.

  10. On the Security tab, click Enabled. Click Apply and then OK.

  • To open MMC, click Start, click Run, and then type mmc.
