Fax Modem INF File Entries

This section describes the modem setup information (INF) file entries that create registry values under the Fax subkey, to configure fax modem features.

Topic Description

ExitCommand

The ExitCommand entry identifies the command string that is issued to the modem after hang-up, and just before Unimodem releases the port.

PreAnswerCommand

The PreAnswerCommand entry identifies the modem command string that is issued to the modem just before Unimodem issues the ATA command.

PreDialCommand

The PreDialCommand entry specifies the modem command string that is issued to the modem just before Unimodem issues the ATD command.

ResetCommand

The ResetCommand entry identifies the command string that is sent before every send and before every answer.

SetupCommand

The SetupCommand entry identifies the AT command that is sent before every send operation and before every answer operation (after the reset command).

EnableV17Recv

The EnableV17Recv entry identifies the command that disables the use of V.17 during a FAX call.

EnableV17Send

The EnableV17Send entry identifies the command that enables the use of V.17 during a FAX call.

FixModemClass

The FixModemClass entry specifies the preferred fax class.

FixSerialSpeed

The FixSerialSpeed entry specifies the DTE-DCE baud rate to be used when the modem is in Class1 or Class2 mode.

HighestSendSpeed

The HighestSendSpeed entry specifies the highest over-the-wire speed acceptable for sending a fax, in bits per second.

LowestSendSpeed

The LowestSendSpeed entry specifies the lowest over-the-wire speed that is acceptable for sending a fax, in bits per second.

Additional Fax Entries, Including Adaptive Answering

The fax settings have been set up as a hierarchical Fax Registry tree with INF file entries defining the modem state.

Class 1-Specific Entries

This section describes modem INF file entries for Class 1 Fax modems.

Class 2-Specific Entries

The Microsoft Fax Class2 driver uses an internal table to identify modem-specific behavior. However, the table entries can be overridden by specifying the corresponding entries in the modem's INF file.
