ActiveSync Transport (Windows CE 5.0)

Send Feedback

Microsoft ActiveSync technology provides data replication and synchronization by comparing the data on a target device with the data on the desktop computer to which the target device is connected. After comparing data, ActiveSync updates both the target device and the desktop computer with the most recent information. The ActiveSync application is a connectivity application that runs on a desktop computer and facilitates connections with a target device.

The ActiveSync transport provides an application-level connection to a target device by using a partnership that you establish with the ActiveSync application. To use the ActiveSync transport, you must first establish a serial connection between the development workstation and the target device. For information about connecting to a target device with ActiveSync, see Establishing a Connection to a Target Device with ActiveSync.

The ActiveSync transport does not require configuration because the transport uses the partnership that you establish with the ActiveSync application. This partnership facilitates the transfer of data between the development workstation and the target device.
