Upgrade to SBS 2003 R2 before Friday and get your SBS 2003 R2 CALs for as little as 75¢ each!

Are you debating if you should upgrade to SBS 2003 R2 from your SBS 2000 or SBS 2003 now or wait until SBS 2008 comes out? Wondering if there is any reason to make the decision sooner rather than later? If so, then how does getting your SBS 2003 R2 CALs for as little as 75¢ sound? If you make the choice to do so by this Friday, you can. Here is how:

The annual estimated retail price (ERP) of SBS 2003 R2 CALs through the Open Value Subscription Program is $30. Since you are upgrading from SBS 2000 or SBS 2003, this means you would qualify for the up-to-date discount on those SBS CALs through Open Value Subscription. This would drop the ERP of the SBS 2003 R2 CALs to $15 each first year payment. If you look at the rebate schedule for SBS CALs through the Big Easy Offer, you will see that the per unit rebate for SBS 2003 R2 CALs through Open Value Subscription is $12.75 each. In addition, the Open Value VAR Rebate on SBS Server CALs is 10%, which some Partners use to offset the pricing offered to clients. So, if do the math with these numbers:

  • $30.00 SBS CAL annual ERP through OVS - $15.00 Yr. 1 Up-to-date discount = $15.00 each, year 1
  • $15.00 - $12.75 Big Easy Subsidy = $2.25 each
  • $2.25 - $1.50 Open Value VAR Rebate = $0.75 each for SBS 2003 R2 CALs in year 1

To make it easier for those of you who want to take advantage of this, the part numbers for SBS CALs through Open Value Subscription (these are all included in my Open Value Subscription Partner pricing and part number Cheat Sheet) are:

  • SBS User CAL with Up-to-date discount: T74-02844
  • SBS Device CAL with Up-to-date discount: T74-02840

For those CALs that do not qualify for the Up-to-date-discount, here are those Part #s:

  • SBS User CAL without Up-to-date discount: T74-02681
  • SBS Device CAL without Up-to-date discount: T74-02617

By taking advantage of this offer, not only will you be getting your SBS 2003 R2 CALs for just $0.75 each in year 1, in addition, because Open Value Subscription includes full Software Assurance benefits, this means you have full upgrade protection. So, when SBS 2008 is released, your SBS 2003 R2 CALs in Open Value Subscription will automatically get upgrade rights to SBS 2008 CALs, all included for that $0.75 each in year 1! In addition, by placing your order before Friday, you’ll also qualify for the Open Value Subscription $100 Sales Spiff.

Now, to qualify for the Big Easy Rebate on your SBS CALs, you will need to purchase the SBS Server too (but how many of you are upgrading your CALs without your server???) Well, there are big savings available to you on the server side of the equation until Friday too! For instance: SBS Standard for $48.60 or SBS Premium for $101.40! I have the details on how to get these prices included in the linked Blog posts.

Now I know that human nature is taking over and you are thinking, “Ok, I can wait until Friday to place my order and still get this.” My suggestion to you is this, if you know what it is you are ordering, try and get it in by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest. Why? Let’s call it the “just in case” factor. Like “just in case” you accidentally order the wrong part #. Or “just in case” there is another problem with your order that needs to be corrected. By placing your order on Wednesday or Thursday, if there is something that needs to be corrected, that gives you one or two days to identify it and correct it while still getting your order in by Friday. If you wait to place your order until Friday and sometime during processing an error is discovered, by the time you find out and correct it, it will be Monday, which means your order will go in the system AFTER the rebates and promotions expire and you won’t get them. So just my $.02, don’t wait until the last minute, “just in case.”

Thank you and have a wonderful day,
