How to Add Service Accounts to the IIS_WPG Group

This topic provides steps for adding service accounts to the IIS_WPG group if you are running Windows Server 2003. If you are running Windows Server 2008, you must add service accounts to the IIS_USRS group. For information, see How to Add Service Accounts to the IIS_IUSRS Group.

You must assign the Web service accounts on the business management server for business users to access the Web services, and the Web site worker process account (<Web domain>\RunTimeUser) on the production Web servers for users to have access to the Web site.

To add the worker process account to the IIS_WPG group

  1. On the desktop, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.

  2. In the Computer Management screen, under System Tools, expand Local Users and Groups, and then click Groups.

  3. Right-click the IIS_WPG group, and then click Add to Group.

  4. In the IIS_WPG Properties dialog box, click Add.

  5. In the Select User, Computers, or Groups dialog box, in the Enter the object names to select box, type the account name on which you want your worker process to run (for example, (<Web domain>\RunTimeUser), and then click OK.

  6. Repeat step 5 to add any additional service accounts to the to the IIS_WPG group. For the business management server, you add the CatalogWebSvc, MarketingWebSvc, OrdersWebSvc, and ProfilesWebSvc accounts to the IIS_WPG group.

  7. In the IIS_WPG Properties dialog box, click OK.
