Public Custom Event ItemDrag As ItemDragEventHandler

Event Type

Examples

The following code example demonstrates the use of this member. In the example, an event handler reports on the occurrence of the ItemDrag event. This report helps you to learn when the event occurs and can assist you in debugging. To report on multiple events or on events that occur frequently, consider replacing MessageBox.Show with Console.WriteLine or appending the message to a multiline TextBox.

To run the example code, paste it into a project that contains an instance of type ListView named ListView1. Then ensure that the event handler is associated with the ItemDrag event.

private void ListView1_ItemDrag(Object sender, ItemDragEventArgs e) {

System.Text.StringBuilder messageBoxCS = new System.Text.StringBuilder();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "Button", e.Button );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
messageBoxCS.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "Item", e.Item );
messageBoxCS.AppendLine();
MessageBox.Show(messageBoxCS.ToString(), "ItemDrag Event" );
}
Private Sub ListView1_ItemDrag(sender as Object, e as ItemDragEventArgs) _
     Handles ListView1.ItemDrag

    Dim messageBoxVB as New System.Text.StringBuilder()
    messageBoxVB.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "Button", e.Button)
    messageBoxVB.AppendLine()
    messageBoxVB.AppendFormat("{0} = {1}", "Item", e.Item)
    messageBoxVB.AppendLine()
    MessageBox.Show(messageBoxVB.ToString(),"ItemDrag Event")

End Sub

Remarks

The ItemDrag event occurs when the user begins dragging an item. Typically the event handler for the ItemDrag event performs the task of dragging by calling the Control.DoDragDrop method. You can use this event to perform the tasks necessary to drag items into and out of your application's ListView control.

For more information about handling events, see Handling and Raising Events.
