FileWebRequest.BeginGetResponse(AsyncCallback, Object) Method

Definition

Begins an asynchronous request for a file system resource.

public:
 override IAsyncResult ^ BeginGetResponse(AsyncCallback ^ callback, System::Object ^ state);
public override IAsyncResult BeginGetResponse (AsyncCallback? callback, object? state);
public override IAsyncResult BeginGetResponse (AsyncCallback callback, object state);
override this.BeginGetResponse : AsyncCallback * obj -> IAsyncResult
Public Overrides Function BeginGetResponse (callback As AsyncCallback, state As Object) As IAsyncResult

Parameters

callback
AsyncCallback

The AsyncCallback delegate.

state
Object

An object that contains state information for this request.

Returns

An IAsyncResult that references the asynchronous request.

Exceptions

The stream is already in use by a previous call to BeginGetResponse(AsyncCallback, Object).

The FileWebRequest was aborted.

Examples

The following code example uses the BeginGetResponse method to asynchronously access a file system resource.

public ref class RequestDeclare
{
public:
   FileWebRequest^ myFileWebRequest;
   RequestDeclare()
   {
      myFileWebRequest = nullptr;
   }

};

ref class FileWebRequest_resbeginend

   static void RespCallback( IAsyncResult^ ar )
   {

      // State of request is asynchronous.
      RequestDeclare^ requestDeclare = dynamic_cast<RequestDeclare^>(ar->AsyncState);
      FileWebRequest^ myFileWebRequest = requestDeclare->myFileWebRequest;

      // End the Asynchronus request by calling the 'EndGetResponse()' method.
      FileWebResponse^ myFileWebResponse = dynamic_cast<FileWebResponse^>(myFileWebRequest->EndGetResponse( ar ));

      // Reade the response into Stream.
      StreamReader^ streamReader = gcnew StreamReader( myFileWebResponse->GetResponseStream() );
      array<Char>^readBuffer = gcnew array<Char>(256);
      int count = streamReader->Read( readBuffer, 0, 256 );

         Console::WriteLine( str );
         count = streamReader->Read( readBuffer, 0, 256 );

      // Release the response Object* resources.
      myFileWebResponse->Close();

Remarks

The asynchronous callback method that implements the AsyncCallback delegate uses the EndGetResponse method to return the actual FileWebResponse.
