Transitioning your MSDN Subscription

Via Rob

In the Team Foundation Server Chat on Friday, and through numerous e-mails & blog comments, people are asking for information on transitioning their MSDN Subscription to one of the new Team System-based subscriptions.

  • For MSDN Universal, you should visit this page: Transition Your MSDN Subscription.
  • For MSDN Enterprise, the transition is automatic to Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers with MSDN Premium Subscription.
  • For MSDN Professional, the transition is automatic to Visual Studio 2005 Profesional Edition with MSDN Professional Subscription.

For more information, see the MSDN Subscription Transition FAQ.

What about for Certified Partners? Every time I call Partner Support, I get a different answer. From reading the newsgroups and hearing other people's experiences, it seems that MS Certified Partners will NOT be getting Team System.

Explain how excluding Partners, even GOLD partners, from getting VS2005 Team System makes any amount of sense? After spending the amount of money I did to get my company a competency level for Certified Partner, I see very little reason to renew if I'm not going to be able to get the development tools I need to develop for MS platforms.
