[This content is no longer valid. For the latest information on "M", "Quadrant", SQL Server Modeling Services, and the Repository, see the Model Citizen blog.]
You can use the standard viewers in their default states as default viewers for a table or record. Or you can customize a viewer and use it as a default viewer.
In this topic you customize a view and save it with a new name. Then you set the named view as a default view.
To customize the view
On the View menu, click Explorer, and then click Repository.
Expand the Database node.
Expand the Microsoft.Samples.Organization node.
Double-click the Tasks node to open it in a workpad.
The default viewer for the collection is a table viewer.
In the upper right corner of the workpad, click the triangle, and in the drop-down list, click Tree.
On the Data menu, clear the Show Child Counts option.
Select the Show Empty Groups and Sort by Display Name options.
To save the view with a new name and set it as a default viewer
Click the Tasks workpad to select it.
On the Workpad menu, click Save View As…..
In the Save View As dialog, in the Viewer Name box, type a new distinct name.
Select Use as default for Tasks Collection.
Click Save.
Once you have saved the view, it appears in the list of viewers for the associated table or record schema. You can always reset the default view by using the Set Default View command on the Workpad menu.
