Test steps
- Get microphone sensitivity and signal to noise ratio (SNR) dB values from audio endpoint property keys.
- Get bits per sample from audio engine device format property key.
- Compute microphone and data path dynamic ranges from above values.
Pass/Fail criteria
The sensitivity and SNR of the microphones must meet minimum requirements. The dynamic range of the data path must exceed the dynamic range of the microphone with margin of at least 6 dB.
Troubleshooting
- Verify that microphone SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) is correctly specified and meets minimum test requirement.
- Verify that microphone sensitivity is correctly specified and meets maximum test requirement.
- Increase resolution of OOBE device mix format (e.g., from 16-bits to 24-bits).
If your failure mode is not included on this list, search the error code in MSDN.
