PFND3D10DDI_IA_SETINDEXBUFFER callback function (d3d10umddi.h)
The IaSetIndexBuffer function sets an index buffer for an input assembler.

A handle to the display device (graphics context).
unnamedParam2
hBuffer [in]
A handle to the index buffer to set.
unnamedParam3
Format [in]
A DXGI_FORMAT-typed value that indicates the pixel format of the index buffer. Only the DXGI_FORMAT_R16_UINT and DXGI_FORMAT_R32_UINT formats are valid; all other formats are invalid.

Offset [in]
The offset, in bytes, into the index buffer.

Remarks
The driver can use the pfnSetErrorCb callback function to set an error code.
The driver should not encounter any error, except for D3DDDIERR_DEVICEREMOVED. Therefore, if the driver passes any error, except for D3DDDIERR_DEVICEREMOVED, in a call to the pfnSetErrorCb function, the Direct3D runtime will determine that the error is critical. Even if the device was removed, the driver is not required to return D3DDDIERR_DEVICEREMOVED; however, if device removal interfered with the operation of IaSetIndexBuffer (which typically should not happen), the driver can return D3DDDIERR_DEVICEREMOVED.
