Configuring NNTP Virtual Servers
Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1
For each Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP) virtual server you can configure security, create newsgroups, set newsgroup limits, and so on. Most configuration options are assigned default values when a new NNTP virtual server is created.
Each NNTP virtual server is listed separately in IIS Manager. Each one has its own properties, expiration policies, and virtual directories. Be sure to select the correct NNTP virtual server before changing properties. To open the properties dialog box for an NNTP virtual server, right-click the NNTP virtual server, and then click Properties.
Besides creating newsgroups for the new NNTP virtual server, you must specify the following virtual server settings:
Tab | Settings |
---|---|
Access |
Configure client access to the NNTP virtual server and to establish transmission security. |
General |
Specify IP address, connection limits, path header, and logging settings. |
Security |
Add Windows user accounts and groups to the list of NNTP virtual server operators. |
Settings |
Configure a maximum limit for the size of news articles and news feeds, and specify the SMTP server to which moderated messages are sent. |
