Build an Image Using Image Builder Wizard (Standard 7 SP1)

This topic walks you through building an image by using Image Builder Wizard, which is the fastest, easiest way to build an image. If you have chosen the express path for image development, this process gets you started with building an image. Hardware and Software Assumptions
- You have a reference device that meets the Requirements for an Embedded Device.
- You have a development computer that meets the Requirements for a Development Computer.

1. Install Windows Embedded Standard 7 Toolkit on the development computer. |

2. If your device does not have a bootable DVD-ROM drive, then create a bootable utility disk or a bootable utility USB flash drive (UFD). If your device has a bootable DVD-ROM drive, you can use the Image Builder Wizard DVD appropriate to your device architecture as a bootable utility disk. If a storage drive on your device, such as a hard disk drive (HDD), requires you to load a third-party driver before it is visible in Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) 3.0, you must copy the driver to a location that your device can access when it runs Windows PE. For example, you can do any of the following:

3. Start Image Builder Wizard on the device using the Image Builder Wizard DVD appropriate to the architecture of the device or a bootable utility disk. |

6. On the Language and Locale Settings page of the wizard, choose the language and locale settings that you want for the image. For the language, you can choose any language available in the distribution share. Note that languages that are not available in the distribution share may still be shown on this page. After you choose a language, IBW removes any options in the Time and Currency Format and Keyboard or Input Method that do not support the language you chose. You can still install additional languages at the Feature Package Selection page in Step 8. |

7. On the Target Analysis page, add inbox drivers to the image. |

8. On the Feature Packages Selection page, check the language, font, feature, and Embedded Enabling Feature (EEF) packages that you want in the image. When you have made all your selections, click Resolve to resolve dependencies for selected packages. When you click Resolve, Image Builder Wizard shows a series of dialog boxes that help you select packages that are required and displays a list of packages that you can choose from to resolve dependency conflicts. When all dependency conflicts are resolved, the Resolve button changes to the Next button. |

9. On the Volume Management and Selection Screen, choose the volume where you want to install the image. If your device has a storage drive that requires a third-party driver, click the Load Driver button to load the third-party driver. The installation begins and shows the Installation Progress page. After the installation is complete, your device restarts using the new Standard 7 image that you created. |
