Business value
Power Platform managed identity provides a robust security framework for services such as connectors, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and environment variable secrets.
By using managed identities, organizations can ensure secure and seamless authentication without the need for managing the credentials. This not only simplifies the management of credentials, but also significantly reduces the risk of unauthorized access, credential leaks, and potential security breaches. It also enhances compliance with security policies and regulations, providing peace of mind and allowing organizations to focus on innovation and productivity.
Feature details
Power Platform services, including the initial set of connectors, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and environment variable secrets, can access Azure resources such as Azure Key Vault and Azure file or blob storage using managed identity. This support allows Copilot Studio agents to securely connect to managed identity-aware resources in Azure, like SQL Server and Azure Key Vault, without the need to manage credentials. This approach mitigates the risks of unauthorized access due to credential leaks.
You can use managed identity with the initial set of connectors to securely connect to data sources in Azure without managing credentials. Managed identity also provides support for environment variable secrets that enhance the security of Power Platform deployments.
