    MessageBox.Show(refersToR1C1Range.RefersTo);
    refersToR1C1Range.RefersTo = "=Sheet1!$C$3";

    MessageBox.Show(refersToR1C1Range.RefersTo);
}

        Me.Range("C1", "D2"), "refersToR1C1Range")
    MessageBox.Show(refersToR1C1Range.RefersTo)
    refersToR1C1Range.RefersTo = "=Sheet1!$C$3"
