Interview with a BizTalk Wiki Ninja - Maheshkumar S Tiwari
Hello! Welcome to another Interview with a Wiki Ninja!
This week's Wiki Ninja is...
Maheshkumar has been busy helping contribute a lot of edits on TechNet Wiki! And he's come out on top for the last few weeks of XAML Guy's weekly Top Contributors (8/24, 8/31, 9/7, and 9/15). Let's look at his current TechNet Wiki stats...
- New Articles: 20
- Article Edits: 1,896
- Wiki Comments: 1,582
Before we get started, here's a photo of Maheshkumar at the Water Palace in Jaipur City, Rajashtan (and scroll below for a photo of him in the snow):
Who are you, where are you, and what do you do? What are your specialty technologies?
Namaste everyone, I am MaheshKumar S Tiwari (Linkedin, twitter) from India living in Pune City. I am 27 years old and live with a loving family (Mom, Dad, brother, sister, and lovely wife), and very soon a new born will join us (I am really excited about it J).
After completing my engineering in IT from the prestigious Pune University , I joined iVision Software Pvt Ltd,Pune. Currently working as a Team Lead in the same organization. I am a tech savvy person and like exploring new stuff, especially around BizTalk Server (it's turning into a passion now).
My contributions to the technical world started with Axway Amtrix as an administrator and started growing and developing into more technical details becoming a part of Integration Development team. My expertise developed in e-invoicing working on defining processes, integrating new clients, creating maps, archiving invoices etc.
It’s been around two-three years we (iVision Software) are migrating to BizTalk step by step. My goal is to become a solution/technical architect.
What are your big projects right now?
Haven’t thought of certifications (but might consider giving it a shot). I do have a Blog (https://tech-findings.blogspot.in) where I share my knowledge on EDI ,EAI and BizTalk Server . And recently
used it few times to share announcements made on TechNet. About writing books, hmm… I would like to write at least one book related to BizTalk Server.
We are designing a couple of Integration solutions that will be built on BizTalk Server (It’s huge and still in planning phase), and so I will share about it when it’s done through my blog, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc.
What is TechNet Wiki for? Who is it for?
TechNet wiki is for all professionals ,students ,teachers who uses Microsoft Technologies. It is a great repository of knowledge from people all around the world, it’s amazing.
What do you do with TechNet Wiki, and how does that fit into the rest of your job?
Firstly I would like to thank Mr. Mayank Singh (MD of iVision Software) for planting a seed in my mind to look out for articles and forums based on BizTalk, and this is how I landed on TechNet Wiki. Initially I started reading articles on BizTalk and then one day I saw an announcement in forum about a winner of the TechNet Guru Competition and then I got to know that TechNet wiki is “any one can learn and any one can share”.
To say in BizTalk terms: “Everyone is a publisher and Everyone is a subscriber” and Best part “No suspended message and no terminated message J”
What is it about TechNet Wiki that interests you?
It is a rich source of knowledge, selfless act of members, helping each other, guiding the new members, learning, sharing and awareness about new things, new issues are few things(more than few ;) ) . The best is that TechNet Wiki points you in right direction by offering quality articles when you are lost; that interests me a lot.
This photo is at Rohtang Pass - Manali, Himachal Pradesh:
On what articles have you collaborated with other community members on #TNWiki? What was that experience like?
There are many – as you already know J. Specifically – BizTalk Administrator Interview Questions and Answers (50 Q&A),BizTalk Developer Interview Questions and Answers, BizTalk Server: Glossary etc. It
feels great just by thought that people sitting at different corner of world contributing to make best of the article.
On what Wiki articles do you spend most of your time?
Most of the time on BizTalk related and TechNet wiki related articles(I have prepared a list and have added article also so that the time I spend in findings those can help others just by going through that article it’s “Wiki: List of Articles for TechNet Wiki”.)
What are your favorite Wiki articles you’ve contributed?
This is my favorite question as it’s dedicated to my favorite article. It happens to be my first article – “BizTalk Server 2010: Grouping and Debatching/Splitting Inbound Messages (TypedPolled) from WCF-SQL Adapter“, which also helped me to win the BizTalk Guru silver medal in August.
What are your favorite Wiki articles?
Apart from my articles J.
BizTalk Server Resources on the TechNet Wiki
BizTalk Server 2010: Beginners Guide
BizTalk Server: List of Errors and Warnings, Causes, and Solutions
BizTalk Server: Basic Principles of Maps
BizTalk Glossary is like a window of house(BizTalk)... you peep in through this and to enter in a house(BizTalk) you walk through the door: "BizTalk Server Resources on the TechNet Wiki".
What are areas that need more attention and development?
I think a little attention needs to be given to articles about TechNet Wiki and its accessibility – may be featuring TechNet articles too in “Featured Articles” section like we have for Technologies.
Who has impressed you in the Wiki community, and why?
Everyone, I mean it’s great to see that people do take out time to help others and share their knowledge – am really impressed.
To name a few in BizTalk Section it’s Sandro, Steef-Jan, and Tord who are example setters for the newcomers – I do look up to them (I really like articles written by them , well formatted , in-depth talks and most important thing- they know what is important) would really like to meet them and if possible also work with them.
Other than them it’s Naomi and last but not least it’s you (Ed Price)- Do I need to tell why?.
What does success look like for TechNet Wiki?
It is already successful and we all contribute to make it more successful and to be part of its ongoing success.
TechNet Wiki is like a sea which is turning into ocean, Technologies are like rivers,
Articles written by authors are like stream of knowledge.
==========
Thank you, Maheshkumar, for all your contributions, and welcome to the community (yet again)!
I also want to point out that Maheshkumar is a great example of how valuable the TechNet Guru competitions are! It's a great way to give TechNet Wiki more visibility in the forums and to make both the Forums and the Wiki a little more interactive (not to mention get some great content out of it as a result).
Please join me in thanking Maheshkumar, and feel free to ask him more questions in the comments!

Great, I updated the first photo description! Next question: You said, "I think a little attention is to be given on TechNet articles accessibility – may be featuring TechNet articles too in “Featured Articles” section like we have for Technologies." Can you expand on that? Like do you mean articles that are in the TechNet Library or do you mean there should be another way to feature Wiki articles? Thanks!Anonymous

Hi Ed, On the first page : social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki , we have categories(content Portal) like Technologies,Platforms,Cloud etc. So was just wondering something like that can be done for TechNet Wiki . I see that ,there is a dedicated section on right hand side "Help & Feedback" , what if we dedicate some portion in middle area and also if there is a Featured article for TechNet Wiki (there are many great articles for TechNet wiki - this will help in increasing the visibility(mostly for new users/editors)).Anonymous
September 18, 2013
Well I think the Help & Feedback section is dedicated to the Wiki and includes portals:
- Getting Started
- Governance & Guidelines Portal

Then in the Featured Articles section, we only have four articles to feature at a time, so we try to mix it up. These articles about the Wiki have already been featured: social.technet.microsoft.com/.../3568.technet-wiki-featured-article-nominees.aspx In the nominees section, we have all these articles nominated to be featured next (in the Wiki category): How to Nominate a TechNet Wiki Article to Be Featured on the Home Page of TechNet Wiki TechNet Wiki Featured Article Nominees TechNet Wiki: Featured Article Teams TechNet Wiki: How to Earn Recognition Points and Achievement Medals Test Lab Guides Wiki: Governance and Guidelines Portal Wiki: How to Add a Video or Image to Your Article Wiki: How to Add and Format Tables in TechNet Wiki Wiki: Known Issues Plagiarism at TechNet Wiki - First Empirical Data and Analysis Which one should we feature next?Anonymous
September 18, 2013
It's been awhile since we've featured an article about the Wiki because we were focused on featuring the TechNet Guru winners.Anonymous
September 18, 2013
I added a lot more articles to the Wiki section in the list of nominees: social.technet.microsoft.com/.../3568.technet-wiki-featured-article-nominees.aspxAnonymous
September 19, 2013
Thanks !!!Anonymous
September 20, 2013
Maheshkumar, you have a good point. We'll make sure we get through the Guru winners first and then try to feature at least one article about TechNet Wiki before the next batch of Guru winners.Anonymous
