Windows shows no internet access but it worked

When my Windows 10 laptop connected to Wi-Fi, it said No Internet Access, I could access website through IE but I couldn’t access to the Microsoft store. What’s the problem of my laptop?

Before we go further, may I confirm with you what's the OS version of your Win 10 client?

Meanwhile I would like to confirm whether you can access to Office 365 or Outlook?

sorry for the late reply, Windows 10 version 2004. And another problem is it's too slow when access to Internet with browser after connecting to wifi.

Hello Andre0,

Generally the Internet icon shows connectivity when the system is able to resolve and ping *.Microsoft.com. If you can surf the Internet but you see an icon with a yellow triangle, it's likely that there is no access to Microsoft (thus you cannot access the MS store).

If this ONLY happens when you are on WiFi, then the likely cause is that the WiFi router or WiFi zone has some sort of site blocking enabled OR you have a misconfigured DNS setting on the WiFi adapter.

If this happens regarless of whether you are WiFi or on Cable, then the issue might be misconfigured DNS on your router/adapter, DNS blocking service (such as OpenDNS) disallowing acces to MS or software installed on your PC that block access to MS.

I delete WiFi network by click on FORGET and reconnect to network has been solved the problem.
it is on DHCP.

Windows does not 'ping' for connected checks. Using ICMP for network awareness would be... stupidity of the highest order.

Parts of Windows and applications written to register with it use the NLA (Network Location Awareness) Service. This service has been buggy for going on a decade now. It used to be the recommended fix to turn it off but it has grown into a monster that Windows won't let you turn off anymore. There is a video linked below on how to alter it so that it might behave better.

The bug recently got a lot worse and with it now being an integral part of Windows I would recommend abandoning any apps that rely on it. e.g. Spotify uses it , Amazon music does not. Microsoft Store uses it, your Browser does not.

My windows 10 pc does the same thing.
It's not my wifi or my router.. I called my internet provider and they assured me the problem is definitely not on their end. For $75 cdn a month it better be top quality!..

Anyways.. I have to restart the wifi access on my laptop almost every dang morning... Sometimes it won't even show me the wifi or ethernet icons in the settings box! Only the airplane mode! Which I have never ever EVER
use.... Like this morning... when it does this i can't even access the start menu!!!. But as soon as I dead restart my laptop and it comes back on without problems!!.... Here's the kicker! The whole time the "wifi" doesn't work on the laptop... the laptop keeps freezing saying Windows explorer has stopped responding! It's not the wifi that is the problem..

So please issue an update or whatever necessary to correct this... clearly many people are experiencing the same problem and it's not our internet...

After using ton of hours on this I have finally found solution. None of the above nor on other websites worked. Solution is so simple it made me cry when I got everything to work.

Settings -> Restore -> Start restore -> Keep your files -> Use local (dont pick cloud because you are "not in the internet"). Wait until install files are downloaded, then restart computer and let it restart all your settings. After this it will update your Windows and you will have internet connection up again according to Windows. This was 1000 hours faster than all the time wasted on finding the solution for this. I guess sometimes just reinstalling is better solution.

Gamarjoba Bro. I had the same problem and the same feelings right now. I get nuts doing all kinds of troubleshooting and workaround but cannot make it work. :( So I am doing the same thing that you did.. thank you for your advice here.

Does the problem occur at your home only or when you take your laptop to other places as well?

What dns specifically is used for this test?

I block all of microsoft's (and other companies) stats dns entries. So which one is used for connectivity availability?

If you are a small company and it is OK with you to setup the proxy using IP instead of FQDN I think it can work.
