Hello, there are lots of advantages and disadvantages when it comes to using Windows Server. First of all, Windows server is easy to setup and configure. It also has support for many third party software, and also has many hardware compatibility. For the disadvantages, first thing is that it is costly compared to others. Also, it may be subject to attacks due to the popularity of the OS these days.

    Hope this explanation helps! :-)

Firewall for Windows 10 is built for personal use. Windows server has enterprise level security. You may use Windows 10 as a server and use firewall, but I would not recommend it.

    Hope this helps!

Can I ask, what are they using it as a server for?  A Windows Server does many things, including file share provision and management, network management (DHCP, DNS), user authentication and permissions management.  If they are using a PC with Windows 10 as a "server" then there are a lot of the management tools they will not have.  Now to throw a curve ball in here too, with the increasing range of Microsoft 365 products we are increasingly taking the traditional on-prem management tools and the file management and moving these into the Microsoft cloud.

So advantages of a proper Windows Server or Microsoft 365 solution?  Management in one word.
