I have the same processor of Intel. It is really disappointing situation. Also for Intel. Have a look at Apple? They are everytime supporting old generation PC's with the new softwares. INTEL i7, 2.5GHZ processor is not compatible with the new Windows 11. I will never buy Intel processor PC and never select Windows.

I have the same problem I checked the list and with the compatible CPU's under the windows 21H1 version and under intel our chip set is listed in the range of compatible CPU's but health check gives the not supported, both Dell and Windows help told me its out of their control what health check is doing????? they refused to help. I have looked on Dell website and all they want you to do is buy a new computer, they are even selling the same computers as what I already have but with windows 11 on them so I would like to know what they are doing to make them windows 11 ready but wont help us out????

I have an HP Envy, with the i7-6500u processor, also with 2.5 GHz, and with Version (not Build) Windows 10 21H1. On this list:
...it indicates the i7-6500u is compatible. It's likely some MS programmer didn't include in when designing the PC Health Check program. Perhaps when they composed, or copied and pasted the list of compatible processors, they inadvertently skipped this one. Consequently, they need to add this back in to their list.
My real concern: whether my old version of MS Office will work. I have the one where I don't pay monthly fees, and I like it that way. I also have Adobe CS6, but who the heck knows if these programs will work once the upgrade is completed. Anyone know of a list of compatible programs?

It doesn't make sense when you consider MANY of the Surface PRO 4 devices run Intel Core i7-6500U CPU @ 2.5Ghz Processer. Crazy. You would think MS would want the Surface customers on Windows 11.

Some of these posters crack me up - never buy an Intel again. OK. Cuz there are no AMD processors on the not supported list? Switch to Apple? OK, I'm sure you never met anyone that was upset their headphone jack was gone. Or their USBB3 port. Or their video out. Or their phone was unable to upgrade. Sure. But, to the actual point, Microsoft hasn't communicated WHY this particular CPU is not on the supported list. I DO HAVE THREE OTHER Windows PC's that are already upgraded, and I KNOW Microsoft wants everyone to Upgrade! Microsoft - fix the problem instead of just presenting it to us.

i have the exact same laptop, and im p sure its bc this processor doesnt have the tpm 2.0 module. it is required to upgrade to windows 11

But you can install windows 11 manually. I test it.

How do you install windows 11 manually?
My system shows Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6500U CPU @ 2.50GHz, 2592 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical
But not getting any options to install Windows 11

I have the same problem also.. It's really bad news!
especially with such expensive and powerful processor!
I think we must to think seriously about switching to Apple devices, as they are more stable and we can update IOS periodically regardless of the processors or generation of Macbook
That's funny - my gal just got back from the Apple store yesterday where they told her that her MacBook cannot install the current IOS. Sorry, no more. That's funny. Well, like my Windows 10 Notebook, it still runs (and, by the way, my other two Dell notebooks and all three of my Dell Desktops installed Win11 a LONG time ago and work fine).

I also have the same problem! I wonder why Microsoft didn't support Intel core i7 6500u?! Is it maybe because it is old (5 years ago)? This is so disappointing!

I'm having the same problem with the i7 6500u 2.50GHz processor. This is very disappointing and didn't think I'd be having this issue anytime soon especially when my girlfriend bought a PC with a slower processor but can upgrade to Windows 11. She doesn't even know anything technical about computers. This reminds me of the "Black Screen of Death" when your computer crashes only this is the "Black Screen of CPU Windows update". I thought I was having system errors until I started reading these comments. This is not good! Microsoft will there be a fix for this?

These Microsoft help pages are so poor and the responses so generic and unhelpful.
We are not all billionaires who can update our laptops as and when.
I have the same issue. Thousands of people worldwide will.
How is it Microsoft has chosen to support much older and worse performing processors than this one?
What are the reasons meaning this cannot be resolved?
Will this situation ever be resolved?
Windows are supporting i3, i5, i7 and more but not some Intel processors...
Why does Windows 11 work perfectly well for people who are making changes to the registry but Microsoft deem the processor not to be compatible in the PC Health Check? Go figure?
Please resolve this quickly Microsoft it is a horrible position to put thousands and potentially millions of users in.
