How To: Secure Groove Server Manager 2007

If you are installing your own servers, special care must be taken to secure that infrastructure.  Like other Web applications, the Groove Manager’s administrative IIS Web interface must be secured against unauthorized access and interference. Controlling network access, instituting a reliable authentication system, configuring SSL, and defining administrative roles for the administrative Web pages are important steps you should take toward securing your administrative environment.

The following document describes essential minimal measures for securing your Groove Manager’s administrative Web pages.  It covers Authentication, SSL, Role Based Access Control, and securing SMTP on your Groove Server Manager.

We try to make it very simple to get started with Groove.  Its (relatively) easy to get a hold of the client software, and start working with Groove right away, no infrastructure required.  For organizations that want to provide some central administration and control over the Groove environment, we offer the option of either using Enterprise Services (hosted by Microsoft) or deployiong their own Groove Server 2007 infrastructure.  You can read more abiout both of these at https://office.microsoft.com/grooveserver .
