Overwhelming
Yesterday, I got a chance to get most of the team up on stage and do some demos as part of the Microsoft Australia FY08 company meeting.
The guys did a killer job in a segment I called "90 Seconds of Fame", in which we staged our own mini webjam, but rather than 3 minutes, I gave each person half that time - 90 seconds. We added an SMS voting element and took advantage of an app Dave Glover had written a while back
The guys show virtual earth mashups, photosynth, popfly, cavemen, wpf apps, expression blend and silverlight to name just a few of the things.
It was a real proud moment to see the team perform on the big stage. A definite feel good moment for me.
Big shout out to Dave Glover, Andrew Coates, Charles Sterling, Scott Barnes, David Lemphers, Nigel Watson, Michael Kordahi, Michael Kleef and Shane Morris who did a wonderful job with their demos. Jeff Alexander also has his 90 seconds of fame earlier in the day with his Windows Server 2008 demos.
We also let the whole company know my news. I guess not everyone in Microsoft Australia reads my blog.
Speaking of 'my news', it's been overwhelming the comments, emails, blog posts, articles in the paper, direct messages on twitter, etc I had received from people. I definitely feel a lot of love. Definitely makes me feel appreciated, which is always nice. To the folks who have taken the time to contact me , a big thank you. I will get around to get back to each and everyone of you over the next few days.

DPE's evangelists rockz! Hope the rest of the company can try to understand the difference this group is contributing in preparing and retaining its customers' interest in Microsoft products. Customers are not a number on an .XLS but people with individual motivation factors. That's people ready business.Anonymous

Frank I'm sure you will be missed, and those guys will continue a legacy you have every right to feel proud of. On a personal note I was unaware that your boys were Aspies, if the move to Seattle makes that easier then all the better. I have an Aspie Son (8yo) and a Daughter (3yo) who is starting to sort things in shopping aisles we are still hoping she is just being helpful. I will seek you out with a beer in my hand at TechEd. For those who want to self diagnose http://www.geocities.com/autistry/YMBAAI.html I resemble most of the things in that. Take Care.Anonymous
