getAttribute method

Retrieves the value of the specified attribute.

 

Syntax

HRESULT retVal = object.getAttribute(strAttributeName, AttributeValue);

Parameters

• strAttributeName [in]
  Type: BSTR

  BSTR that specifies the name of the attribute.

• AttributeValue [out, retval]
  Type: VARIANT

  Pointer to a VARIANT that returns a BSTR, number, or VARIANT_BOOL value, as defined by the attribute. If the attribute is not present, this method returns null.

Return value

Type: HRESULT

If this method succeeds, it returns S_OK. Otherwise, it returns an HRESULT error code.

Remarks

The specified attribute name will always retrieve its appropriate string value.
