Insert Object Dialog Box

Lists the OLE objects you can link or embed in your application for forms or General fields in Visual FoxPro tables.

In a browse window, double-click a General field to bring up an editing window and enable the Insert Object command.

For a form, select an OLE Container control while a form is displayed. This displays the Insert Object dialog box and the new object is stored in the field to which the control is bound.

  • Create New
    Displays the Object Type box so you can choose an OLE application in which to create a new object.
  • Object Type
    Appears when you select Create New, and displays the OLE applications installed on your computer. Select an application in which to create the object.
  • Create From File
    Displays the File box so you can specify an existing object to insert.
  • File
    Appears when you select Create From File. Type the object's file name and path, or choose Browse to select the appropriate file.
  • Browse
    Opens the Browse dialog box that makes it possible for you to select a table or view.
  • Link
    Links the object. If you don't select this option, the object is embedded.
  • Display As Icon
    Displays the inserted object as an icon. The icon comes from the application in which the object was created.
  • Results
    Depending on the radio button selected, can display a description of action to be performed on the contents of the file after you choose OK, a Unique Identifier, and a path to the Control or Object Type selection. You can alter the description displayed by choosing the Create New, Create from File, or Display As Icon options.
  • Change Icon
    Displays the Change Icon dialog box, which makes it possible for you to select a different icon for the OLE object. Appears when you select the Display As Icon option.
  • Insert Control (forms only)
    Displays the Control Type box so you can insert an ActiveX control.
  • Control Type (forms only)
    Appears when Insert Control is selected, and lists the ActiveX controls you can insert.
  • Add Control (forms only)
    Appears when Insert Control is selected, and displays the Browse dialog box so you can find and select an ActiveX control not listed under Control Type.
