如果您在 Windows Server 2008 或 Windows Server 2003 上安裝 Windows Identity Foundation，當您將 Windows 操作系統升級至 Windows Server 2008 R2 時，Windows Identity Foundation 會自動卸載。 您必須在 Windows 操作系統升級之後安裝 Windows Server 2008 R2 的 Windows Identity Foundation 安裝套件。
如果您在 Windows Server 2003 上安裝 Windows Identity Foundation，當您將 Windows 操作系統升級至 Windows Server 2008 時，Windows Identity Foundation 會保留在升級的操作系統上。 建議您先卸載 Windows Identity Foundation，再升級 Windows 操作系統，然後重新安裝 Windows Server 2008 的 Windows Identity Foundation。 您可以使用下列命令，以無訊息方式卸載 Windows Server 2003 上的 Windows Identity Foundation： %windir%\\$NtUninstallKB974405$\\spuninst\\spuninst.exe /quiet。
