Use this procedure to export software updates or software update bundles so that they can be imported into another Updates Publisher 2011 repository.

To export software updates and software update bundles

  1. In the Updates Publisher 2011 console, click Updates. The workspace is displayed at the bottom of the navigation pane in the console.

  2. Locate the software update or bundle that you want to export by using the following methods:

    • Click All software updates to display all the software updates and bundles in the Updates Publisher 2011 repository.

    • Click a manufacturer folder to see only those software updates and bundles that are related to the manufacturer.

    • Click a product folder to see only those software updates and bundles that are related to a product of a manufacturer.

    • Use Search to list only those software updates and bundles that include the search term.

  3. Select the software updates or bundles that you want to export, and then, on the Home tab, click Export.

    Important

Windows Installer (MSI) software updates that are created using Updates Publisher 2011 cannot be exported to a System Center Updates Publisher 4.5 repository.

  4. In the Export Software Updates Catalog Wizard, on the Destination page, in the Catalog path box, enter the path to where the software updates and bundles are exported. Software updates and software update bundles are exported as software updates catalogs (.cab files).

  5. If any of the software updates or bundles have dependent software updates that have to be exported, such as prerequisite updates, select the Include dependent software updates when exporting selected software updates check box. This check box is selected by default.

  6. Click Next.

  7. On the Summary page, review the software updates or bundles that will be exported. Click Next to start exporting the software updates or bundles. On the Progress page, you can monitor what Updates Publisher 2011 is doing.

  8. On the Confirmation page, click Close to exit the wizard.
