啟用自動格式選取時，WCF 基礎結構會剖 Accept 析要求訊息的標頭，並判斷最適當的回應格式。 Accept如果標頭未指定適當的回應格式，WCF 基礎結構會使用 Content-Type 要求訊息的 或作業的預設回應格式。
