Getting Started with WPF

The writers on the WPF Developer Content team own over 30K topics in the MSDN library.  But one of the most viewed topics is Getting Started (WPF).  I'm trying to make the topic more helpful, relevant, to the point, etc.  I updated the page a few months ago and was hoping I'd get some feedback from customers who either loved it or hated it. So far, I've heard crickets. Basically, I took the old page, which was just a list of links to all the topics down one level in the tree and replaced that with a list of what I thought people might be looking for when they click on a topic called "Getting Started." I was trying not to make it a long topic that you'd have to read though but more of a jumping off point.  If you are interested, here is the link to the 3.5 version and the 4 version. What do you think? Is it more useful? Not? If not, why not?  Send me feedback via the feedback on MSDN or just leave a comment here.

Thanks,
Margaret

I've not seen that particular page before, but I'll be keeping it in mind when I next get stuck :)

mihailik -  It sounds like you want a lot more content on this page. Traditionally, we've made these more "collector/distributor" pages where we redirect people to existing content.  There is a topic which covers a lot of what you are asking for, it is the Introduction to WPF topic (msdn.microsoft.com/.../aa970268.aspx).  Also, part of why I'm asking customers what they want to see is because I started working on WPF 8 years ago. I'm not really sure what people know, what they don't know, what they are interested in knowing about, etc. I can guess, but I'd rather collect some feedback and give people exactly what they want and need.  Also, I'm curious as to what people expect when they see the title "Getting Started"? Do they expect a walkthrough, the content you've suggested, code, an introduction (like the topic I linked to)? Do they want something short, something longer, or are links good? So, thanks for the feedback, I'll be continuing to look at this page and trying to make it as useful as it can be to as many people as possible.  - Margaret

I like the content and the fact that we have an easy place to come for new WPF.  Keep up the good work.
