Windows Phone announcements at CES

The annual Consumer Electronics Show opened today in Las Vegas, with Steve Ballmer once again providing the keynote. Ballmer’s speech included demonstrations of the first LTE-based Windows Phones, announced by Microsoft partners Nokia and HTC and available exclusively from AT&T in North America.

The Nokia Lumina 900 features a gorgeous 4.3-inch screen, sharp 8 megapixel camera with exclusive Carl Zeiss optics, and a front facing camera for video chats—all set in a sleek polycarbinate unibody.

The HTC Titan II features the biggest touchscreen of any Windows Phone (4.7-inch WVGA). It’s fast, with a 1.5 gigahertz Snapdragon processor, and delivers a great front-facing camera for video chat and a 16-megapixel rear camera with a fast wide-angle lens.

@StefEBar, Yes, the pickings are currently fairly thin in Australia, with only Telstra supporting and selling the HTC HD7 today. telstra.com.au/.../windows7 Can’t announce anything, but I have been told a new crop is arriving pretty soon. You could subscribe to the new phone feed to be updated when it happens. www.microsoft.com/.../7  Stay tuned. Alan
