Introducing the Visual Studio ALM Rangers – Rex Tang

Who you are?

Rex Tang, a Consultant of Microsoft Consulting Services in Japan. My technical areas are around software development in Microsoft technologies, Visual Studio ALM, Windows Azure, and Virtualization technologies.

What makes you “ tick ” ?

I am totally a dev guy so anything involving software development makes me tick. I started my software programming life when I was at junior high school, realized this is what I want to do for my life, and finally getting into the IT industry. Been in this industry for over 10 years as a dev guy, I realized that it’s easy to just make software by one-self, but it’s really hard to coordinate a “team” to make “quality” software in an “efficient” way. That’s why I am getting into the ALM field to find the answers for myself and my customers.

Where you live?

I was lived at Taipei, Taiwan until 2006, then relocated to Tokyo, Japan and now live in Tokyo with my family.

Where is the place you call home?

The place where my family are at, and with high-speed internet connections, can be my home. ;)

Why are you active in the Rangers program?

Rangers program has clear goal to make Microsoft ALM Products better and I do benefit from those rangers projects during my delivery. I think I can also contribute to the program to make it even better. Another reason is that I like to bridge the gap of information in my region to make rangers programs more adaptable here in Japan.

What is the best Rangers project you worked in and why?

I am currently not involved in any project. My favorite projects are Branch guide, VMFactory, and Lab Management Guide. I think I will start with some localization works of those documents to make it more adaptable here in my region.
