[Live Search Tips] Adding your site in Live Search
Here are few tips and tricks around adding your Site in windows live search and improve the search experience.
I have a friend called (Fabrice Canel) who gave me some educational point in Live Search...
Do not trust site: queries and number of results estimated by search engines
Due to complexity and performance hit to compute the number of results, search engines do not compute the exact number. They provide estimates; I should share that at Live Search like in moist Search Engines, this number is unreliable. The number can be off by magnitude x10, X100 and this is not comparing apples with apples between search engines.
There is all many blogs and post on the Internet of Customers disappointed by this… but this is y today’s design of search engines
Same providing a number… this is not telling about how many relevant pages are indexed.
Due to the nature of the web, many web sites output Millions, sometimes Billions … sometimes an infinite number of URLs.,
Search Engines have to select and should be judge on the ability to select the most relevant pages.
Your site / improving your site at Live Search
you can help the engine with your site by:
Via sitemaps
Detected some sitemaps via your robots.txt files. We have started to leverage sitemaps with the fall release and are actively reviewing and trusting more sitemaps (unfortunately spammers try to leverage sitemaps technique to feeds search engines with spam links).
Optimizing you Site
https://webmaster.live.com/ can help us troubleshooting issues with your site. I suggest you register your site and get some help via this site.
I generally suggest to web sites to be audited by an SEO (Search Engines Optimization) company. Such company has tools to review sites and provide recommendations (robots.txt, meta , templates, … ) to improve the Search experience and visibility of the relevant content in Internet Search engines and filtering not relevant content. Same if you have expertise in house, this is always good to have third party audit done.
