App-V 4.5 Anwendungen auf dem 4.6 Client (MSI Installation)

Hallo, 

Wenn man Anwendungen die mit dem 4.5 RTM Sequencer erstellt wurden auf einem Client mit App-V 4.6 installieren möchte – im Standalone Mode, dann bekommt an so eine Meldung:

This package requires Microsoft Application Virtualization Client 4.5 or later

Warum ist das so?

Der 4.5 RTM Sequencer, erzeugt MSI’s mit einer „schlechten“ Versionsprüfung. Dieser Fehler wurde mit 4.5 CU1 behoben.

Das bedeutet, dass MSI’s die mit dem 4.5 CU1 Sequencer erzeugt wurden dieses Verhalten nicht unter 4.6 zeigen.

Lösung:

Für App-V 4.5 RTM Anwendung steht folgende Hilfe zur Verfügung: (Aus 4.6 Beta Release Notes)

Load/install error running a Windows Installer file generated by the App-V 4.5 Sequencer

Running a Windows Installer file generated by the App-V 4.5 Sequencer produces a load/install error when trying to run it on an App-V 4.6 client. You will see the following message: "This package requires Microsoft Application Virtualization Client 4.5 or later". Please use the following workaround.

WORKAROUND To successfully run a Windows Installer file generated by the App-V 4.5 Sequencer on the App-V 4.6 client, a Windows Installer transform must be applied to the App-V 4.5 generated Windows Installer file. Apply the launchcondition.mst transform file that is available on the Connect site to the App-V 4.5 Windows Installer file. The transform must be applied by using the following command, where MSITran is a utility that is part of the Windows Platform SDK:

MSITran.exe -a launchcondition.mst <4_5generated.msi>

The Windows Platform SDK can be found at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=161145.

Auch sollte eine öffnen und speichern der Anwendung auf einem CU1 Sequencer oder höher das Problem beheben wenn man einen ein neues MSI erstellt.
