Exchange 2010 - Microsoft Filter Pack - install on Mailbox and Hub Transport Roles

In the TechNet article below, it states that Microsoft Filter Pack should be also installed on Hub transport Role.

But why should / need i install this ?

Installing the filter pack adds support for indexing file attachments and file contents associated with the Office 2007/2010
versions of documents (.docm, .docx, .one, .pptm, .pptx, .vdx, .vsd, .vss, .vst, .vsx, .vtx, .xlsb, .xlsm, .xlsx, .zip).
If it's not there, then Exchange Search can't index/search attachments of those types.
For example, if you're doing a multi-mailbox search, if the filters aren't there, then the search could fail.

  Do the filter packs for Exchange have to be at the same Service Pack level as your Office version ?
