What’s new? 

The most visible new capabilities are:

  • Intercom
  • Remote phones can connect over a VPN
  • The auto attendant can switch on/off automatically, according to a schedule.

    Just installed SP2.  Have a problem that I can't seem to find an answer for. It appears the ability to barge in on the automated attendant no longer works. I am using a Syspine unit, I have upgraded the firmware on the base unit and the phones.  When calling in to the system I can't interrupt the AA, I need to wait until the message is over before it will respond to any voice commands.

    We had a lot of reports of false barge-in when customers had bad lines, or callers were in noisy environments, resulting in very poor caller experiences, and callers hanging up.  Unfortunately, speech barge-in was great when it worked, but some customers were plagued with very unhappy experiences that they had no control over.  We'd like to make it work better, but we couldn't fix it in time for SP2.  So for now we've switched off speech barge in.  It's a pain for those who weren't having problems with it, but it will greatly improve things for those who were. We're still working on it, and want to deliver a better solution. In the meantime, DTMF barge continues to work fine.  If the caller knows the extension of the person they're calling, they can barge-in by typing it at any time.

    Need to know if RP does or doesn't have a built-in DHCP service as the System Requirements indicates "no" while the Troubleshooting guide indicates "yes". And, if "yes" can it be turned off?

    Thanks Matt, the troubleshooting guide is wrong.  We'll get that fixed. RP doesn't come with a built-in DHCP service.  Just continue using whatever DHCP the network already has.

    I installed SP2 at a customer site where SBS 2003 is in use.  The monitor utility no longer works and when running it from the Explorer, I get a complaint about it being a different version than the RP base unit.  Have problems with the RP monitor cropped up with SP2 and is there an update to this utility to allow it to work again?  paul@dbma.com

    You need to use the monitor that ships with SP2.  It's included in the download package, although you may need to run winzip to get at it.  We'll be fixing that shortly...
