There are some great resources out there for getting started with Silverlight and WPF since I get this question so often I thought I would post the details here.

FamilyShow - sample app built in WPF w/ video and code.

Watch Rob Relyea's Windows Presentation Foundation for Developers presentation (references). This will provide an understanding of the overall vision for WPF and, more importantly, a sense of the possibilities of the platform by seeing some of the very best WPF demos.

    "A few agencies I know that are doing WPF & Silverlight projects" You can now add provoke.co.nz to that list - we just won our first commercial Silverlight project yesterday (and a few more waiting in the wings). Only thing which seems to be stopping our clients is the plugin issue... do you have any stats on the uptake to date?

    Great Stuff! No stats on uptake to date but we are working as a company to address this issue. It will be driven at the top end with large site adoption providing compelling silverlight content and also in the long tail with the silverlight streaming service allowing websites to host their silverlight assests on us.
