E-learning Authoring Toolset (LCDS) RTW

So what have we been working on at Microsoft Learning? The first community version of our internal e-learning development toolset. Congrats to the folks in the MSL Learning Services Group!

Register and download the LCDS here.

LCDS 2.0 Community Build was released to the public yesterday on MSCOM. The 42 MB download enables the public to create their own e-learning courses, and host them on their own web servers, or LMS.

What does an LCDS-built course look like? I developed the What's New In Windows Vista course using a very early build of LCDS last year. It's even better, faster, and feature-packed in this release.

Note – the community build of LCDS is unsupported, and all MSL branding is removed. It does not contain the navigation wheel (text only navigation) and it does not support the Microsoft Virtual Labs component.

Software looks cool - I did find that it didn't work in firefox (3 beta 5) - the start button doesn't do anything although it works ok in IE. However this release is perfect timing as a client wants to do something just like this!

Hi Eric!  This is very cool.  I'm talking with Mike Tholfsen from the OneNote team about OneNote and eLearning.  I mentioned LCDS and he had not heard of it.  I also discovered that there is a Sharepoint Learning Kit.  So that makes 3 different, very cool elearning tools/kits coming out of MS and I'm wondering if there is a chance for some synergy. I am the program manager for The eLearning Guild and would love to see if there is an opportunity to get a rep from all 3 products to attend DevLearn08 in S.F. in November. I would enjoy having a conversation with you regarding the possibilities.   bschlenker at elearningguild dot com.

Are there any examples of lessons created using the latest release? Especially lessons that include audio content and questions.
