Zune launches - Some very cool media comments...will it continue?
Well for one I hope so!! These are some of the comments we are seeing in the press at the moment:
- “Brown is extremely fashionable now. Many people say it's the new black…’Brown in the past has been somewhat earth-related… It's been grounded and practical. But I think the new browns are purple browns and blackened browns and interesting buffy browns.’" - Margaret Walch, director of the Color Association of the United States, as quoted in The New York Times
- “Would the Zune ever be able to connect to the Internet? Could someone walk into a Starbucks and use the connection there to download a song? Mr. Lee answered without hesitation: “Probably, one day.” – Michel Marriott, The New York Times
- "It's either going to be a really big hit or a really big dog…I just don't see this falling in the middle." - Rob Enderle, analyst with the Enderle Group
- “Despite the initial criticism and the potential cold-shoulder treatment from consumers, don't sell Microsoft—or Zune—short.” - Catherine Holahan
- “The Zune has the opportunity to steal market share from Apple, probably more than any other player that has existed in this space, Enderle said. But on the other hand, it's untested, and you never really know what will play well on store shelves .” - Rob Enderle, Industry Analyst quoted in Seattle Times article today
- “Lastly, when putting together this story on the Zune last week, one of the people I spoke with was Steve Wilson of ABI Research, the company that found a higher-than-expected number of iPod users willing to seriously consider buying a Zune. Wilson said he believes one of the key factors was Microsoft's name recognition. (Survey respondents were told it was a Microsoft product.)” – Todd Bishop’s Seattle PI blog, today
Very cool - cannot wait for Amazon to send mine over :-)
