Had me crying with laughter...race horses, flocks of chickens and harnessing huskies :-)
Righty ho, so about a month ago a new product manager started in Microsoft UK called Dr. Michael Newberry – he’s a fantastic Australian and (being wary that there are more than a few Aussies reading this blog) I am looking forward hugely to the Ashes flying their way safely back with the winning English Cricket Team and the English Rugby team....right time to stop whilst I am ahead...just... J
So what was it that made me smile, it was the following analogy of the HPC industry over the years:
- Cray computers from the 80’s and 90’s are like thoroughbred racing horses
- The Linux based clusters that have driven HPC in the 90’s and early noughties (‘OO years in Britain) resemble flocks of chickens that are tough to harness, manage and configure
- The HPC solutions of the future based on MS will be like harnessing husky dogs that are simple to manage, easily supportable and affordable to power your business forward
So there you have it ladies and gents, no point in getting the Economist this month as Dr Michael and I have covered it here. It’s all about thoroughbred nags, chucks and husky dogs....Harvard Business School eat your heart out!! J

My Colleague Mike Pallot keeps an interesting blog, which I'm slightly ashamed to say I found by accident
