My Test
[To the tune of Elton John's "Your Song"]
It's a little bit funny, this feeling inside
Not knowing whether I am deaf or I am blind
I programmed this thing to extend my senses
Now all I can tell is I'm not eating blintzes
If I was a PM, but then again, no
Or a tester who is so good at making programs blow
My tests may be sad but they're the best I can do
The last one I wrote killed off my CPU
And you can tell everybody this is my test
It may not be much but it really is my best
I hope you run it
I hope you run it, and it finds a bug
If it does please have a tester give me a hug
My tester had offered to review my tests
I declined because I desperately needed some rest
Now I wish that I had accepted his review
For now things are so bad I fear people will sue
So excuse me for asking but can you help me out
For I've dug myself in so far you can't hear my shout
If you happen to then please throw me a rope
Becoming a tester is now my highest hope
And you can tell everybody this is my test
It may not be much but it really is my best
I hope you run it
I hope you run it, and it finds a bug
If it does please have a tester give me a hug

Awesome song, Michael!! Your tests are really the best. We are still running them and they keep finding bugs. -AnandAnonymous

Michael, Unless you object, I will publish this in the Atlanta Quality Assurance Association newsletter (with full credit of course.) If they are paying attention to me, most of the membership read your blog because I listed it in my last presentation but the newsletter reaches a lot more than regular attendees. And since this is my first comment, thanks for taking the time to blog; it is a help and inspiration to many of us who read but never publish. Anson - treasurer at aqaa dot org.Anonymous

Excellent song Michael! It is like discovering a tester who can write lyrics (or is it the other way round?) :) -Debasis
